…We dined on the sheep’s head, lights etc. boiled and some turnips… Mrs Gibbs drank tea at our house, as did also my brother Moses. I received of my brother in cash 4.4.0, which is in full of my brother John’s account. At home all day. Read part of Wiseman’s Chyrurgery, and in the evening, part of the 2nd volume of Hervey’s Theron and Aspasio. Thomas Davy sat with us a while in the evening. After I had been to bed about half an hour, I was seized with a violent pang in one of my teeth which lasted about half an hour and then went off with the assistance of some lint steeped in spirits of hartshorn and put in the hollow of the tooth.
