In the forenoon a-completing the rough draft of the lease begun last night. Gave a man 3d who came with a petition from East Peckham in Kent, who had sustained damages by fire. We dined on a leg of mutton boiled and turnips and carrots. In the afternoon my wife went down to Whyly to visit Mrs French, and about 7:30 I went down. We supped at Mr French’s on a piece of cold boiled beef and some rice milk. We came home about 11:30 and I think I may say sober.
