In the morning rode to Alfriston to have Dr Snelling’s opinion for my wife. Came home about 8:50. John Durrant bleeded my wife in the forenoon, for which I paid him 6d… We dined on some veal boiled, French beans and peas. Dame Rabson, Dame Gower and Dame Durrant drank tea at our house… Very busy today. My wife very ill.
