Took physic today… In the afternoon went down to John Watford’s and wrote a note of hand from John Juce to him for £20 with interest at £4 percent per annum, payable to John Watford or order on demand, and witnessed by myself, Mr Tanner (formerly collector of excise here) and another gentleman his companion, together with Charles Diggens, drank tea with us. Paid John Cayley 0.15.6 in full for 31 lbs butter received by him today for Mr Thomas Scrase at Lewes. At home all day. In the evening read part of Hervey’s Theron and Aspasio.
