…Mr William Francis, rider to Messrs Barlow and Wigginton, called on me in the forenoon, but I neither gave him order nor paid him any money. Paid Mr John Gosling in cash and goods 2/6 for 5 pairs men’s outseamed tan gloves received today.

We dined on the remains of yesterday’s dinner. Very ill all day with a violent purging and a prodigious sickness. A most remarkable cold day, it freezing even by the fireside, as also in our bed-chamber. This day hired of Mr John Long the school-chamber at 10/- a year.
