My wife and I both at church forenoon and afternoon. The text in the morning: the 18th chapter of Proverbs, 14th verse: “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity, but a wounded spirit who can bear?” In the afternoon the text was the 13th verse of the 12th chapter of Ecclesiastes: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.”
After evening service paid Mr John Wigginton in cash £8 and by bill on Messrs Margesson and Collison, 30 days’ date, £9, which together makes £17 and remains due to Messrs Grant, Barlow and Wigginton £18. Mr Wigginton stayed and drank tea with us. Afterwards my wife and I went for a walk and called at Mr French’s. Stayed and smoked 2 pipes. Came home about 9:15.
