Went to Framfield and from thence to Dr Stone’s and Will Rice’s.

Sent for Dr Russell to my wife. Sent a bank bill, val. £30, to Margesson & Co., and drew on them on my mother’s account to Pooley for 17.16.0. Sold Mr Rice a frock for Bob. I paid Ed Barnard in part for carriage 1.7.0.

Dr Russell came to my wife and declared her very dangerous[ly ill].

Nothing of moment till in the evening when my wife was taken very ill and remained so all night. I paid Thomas Fuller £8 on account.

Mr Tucker and Moses [Turner] came to see me and dined with me on a pig sent me from Hartfield. Heard of the death of the Rt Hon Henry Pelham who died on Wednesday the 6th instant about 6 o’clock in the morning.
My mother came and spent the afternoon with us. Not at church all day.

Proposed going to Lewes to Mr John Streek’s sale, but was prevented by a large quantity of snow falling Sunday night. Brewed and filled the new barrel.
