Began to teach school. Rec’d of Richard Prall 1.16.11¾ in full. Rec’d of Edward Martin 17/- in full. Rec’d of Frank Smith a receipt from Margesson and Collison for £10, and five pounds in cash, together with 30/- he kept on his own account, makes 16.10.0 and is just the money I sent him by his man on Monday the 31st of March. I gave him again in cash £30 to pay to Messrs Margesson & Co. for me, and likewise paid him 10/- on account for carriage, which with the 30/- he kept makes 40/- on the carriage account. Paid him 2/6 for a pocketbook; paid him 21d for lemons, both of which he bought in London. Drew on Messrs Margesson and Collison to John Crouch or order, 21 days’ date, val: £10.

This day Richard Hope and Sarah Weller were married. Very busy all day. Mr Slater went to Lewes; nothing more of moment.
