Sent George Otway two bills drawn by Friend for £28 and in cash 8/- to pay Crouch £10 on my mother’s account; the remainder, 18.8.0, is in full of my mother’s account to the 1st of April 1754. This 28.8.0 I have received of my mother.
Went to Chailey and agreed with Mr Beard to take Richard Turner as an apprentice for seven years to come, from the first day of last January, and to be paid in hand £10, but it is agreed for the said Mr Beard to pay Richard Turner 2/6 on every quarter-day in the first year of his time, 5/- on every quarter-day in the second year, 7/6 a quarter in the third year, 10/- a quarter in the fourth year, 12/6 a quarter in the fifth year, 15/- a quarter for the sixth year and 17/6 a quarter for the 7th and last year. But the said George Beard is, after the expiration of the 7 years, to be paid 10 pounds four shillings if he, the said George Beard, thinks proper to demand it.
I came home in the evening. Spent 5d.
